2011 The Year of "Pay-it-Forward-Knitting"

Each year I declare my knitting year. This year started as charity knitting, but that didn't project the feeling I want to project. And I discovered what I really want is to Pay it Forward.

At the end of last year, I was toying with the Year of Charity Knitting idea and I was chatting with a vendor friend about it. He mentioned it to his boss, Mike. Mike approached me about knitting chemo caps for two friends of his and he said he would make a donation to the charity of my choice. Well, that wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but I would never turn down the chance to knit a hat for someone in need.

When I gave him the hats, he donated $100, but he actually gave it to me to donate. So now I have $100 cash. I decided to use the money to buy yarn for my Pay it Forward year.

What am I making this year.

I have a set of golf club covers on the needles for a golf tournament in July. I'll do a second set of golf club covers for the church golf tournament. Both set will be sold during a silent auction.

I'll knit some hats. I already knit two hats and a friend's daughters loved them and decided to keep them. That's OK since it's year of Paying it Forward. I just asked them to pay it forward in their own way.

That's how the Year of Pay It Forward knitting works better. Everyone wins.
